On April 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., Prof. Elena D’Alessandro (University of Turin) will take the stage at the International Congress on Revisiting the Fundamental Guarantees of Civil Litigation at the Plenary Hall of the Court of Justice of the State of Espírito Santo (TJES) in Vitória (Brazil).
She will participate in Panel 8, dedicated to the theme Right to Defense, Due Process, and Dejudicialization of Dispute Resolution.
Prof. D’Alessandro’s intervention will explore the evolving role of due process in a legal landscape increasingly oriented toward dejudicialization, addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. In particular, she will present the findings of the PRIN 2022 research project on vulnerable adults, offering a critical perspective on how procedural guarantees can be adapted to ensure effective protection for those in situations of vulnerability.
Chaired by Judge Rafhael Americano Câmara (TJES) and with Judge Janete Vargas Simões (TJES) as the designated debater, this session promises an insightful discussion on balancing procedural guarantees with efficiency in dispute resolution.
Prof. D’Alessandro’s contribution will provide valuable perspectives on how legal systems can reconcile the right to defense with the growing trend toward reducing judicial intervention in conflict resolution.
